If you love cards that have a little surprise when you open them, you’re going to love this Pop-Out Pull-Out Fancy Fold Card!
This is such a fun interactive card design. At first glance, it looks like a beautiful handmade card, but when you pull it open, the different sections extend out to reveal even more of the design.
For this project, I wanted to show you just how versatile one fancy fold can be, so I created three different cards using three different Stampin’ Up! stamp sets: Christmas Mice, Christmas Crew, and Painted Pumpkins.
The same card fold works beautifully for Christmas, fall, birthdays, or almost any occasion simply by changing your stamps, Designer Series Paper, colours, and embellishments.
A Fun Interactive Fancy Fold
Don’t let the finished card fool you—this Pop-Out Pull-Out Card looks impressive, but once you understand how the pieces come together, it’s a fun fold you can recreate again and again.
For my Christmas version, I used the Christmas Crew Stamp Set to create the adorable snowman focal point. I love how the snowman looks paired with the soft blues, greens, and winter-themed Designer Series Paper.
The pull-out design also gives you lots of extra space to showcase your favourite patterned papers. If you’re like me and have a collection of Designer Series Paper waiting to be used, fancy folds are a great way to enjoy those beautiful patterns!
Here’s the basic Measurements:
Card Base 5-1/4″ x 9-3/4″ scored at 4-1/4″ on the long side and 1/2″ on each of the short sides.
Mini Card 3-3/4″ x 7-1/2″ scored at 3″
Mechanism 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ scored at 3/8″ on two sides
Three Stamp Sets, Three Completely Different Cards
One of my favourite things about card making is seeing how dramatically a project changes when you switch the supplies.
I created versions using:
🎄 Christmas Mice – for a sweet and playful Christmas card.
☃️ Christmas Crew – perfect for a cheerful winter or Christmas design.
🎃 Painted Pumpkins – showing that this fold isn’t just for Christmas! Change the colours and images and you have a wonderful fall card.
This is also a great idea when you find a fancy fold you really enjoy. You don’t always need to search for a brand-new card design—use the same fold with different stamp sets and give it a completely new personality!
